Elevation is committed to delivering real estate asset improvements whether that is by modernising older care homes or funding new developments designed to deliver quality healthcare and retirement living options.

When funding new developments, we recognise that 40% of carbon emissions come from real estate, 30% of which are from construction alone. We are therefore committed to ensuring improvements are made to existing assets, and when development is a more suitable option, we are seeking to limit emissions by implementing best practices in construction processes.

We have completed a high-level review of the healthcare real estate assets in our portfolio and have a programme of EPC improvement assessments. As well as ensuring that assets meet regulatory requirements (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards), we are looking to make improvements that will have a positive environmental outcome above the minimum standards, and importantly, enhance the resident and employee experience.

The assessments identify the most effective ways to improve the efficiency and environmental performance of the assets. Taking a collaborative approach with operating partners, we identify the asset management strategy that also ensures that there is minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
